Dear Sirs:
On at least 2 days or more, my wife received on her cell phone, text messages from events2cell which she never even opened or viewed prior to today’s date. On this day, we went to a Verizon store in Olney for a person to person contact to get this taken care of. There was a $9.99 charge which occurred twice, once on the November 12, 2012 bill and again on the December 12, 2012 bill. This charge showed up as Premium messaging under Data. While we were at the Verizon store we talked to the billing department using the store manager’s phone because the store manager said he could not reverse the charges on the bill. The billing department claimed there was nothing they can do because this was a third party billing and they are just passing the billing on to us. This, I consider to be a fraudulent billing practice and should be outlawed. As I stated earlier, these text messages were never even viewed by my wife. We did not initiate or accept the message. We had the fraudulent billing stopped by putting a block on messaging, period by the local Verizon store. We want our money back. If we don’t get reimbursed, I will simply short the next payment by the amount we are owed. I will include a short note with the payment. But our goal is to stop Verizon and other carrier services from perpetuating this kind of unfair billing practices. There is no acceptance of any kind of agreement or contract. 30 days after this letter has been mailed and if not resolved by Verizon, a copy of this letter will be forwarded to the Better Business Bureau. If you think this is just a threat, think again. I have gone through this process twice before and have been successful both times. Business activities like this create bad faith and ill will. I can’t believe you would condone such practices. Copies of the billing amounts are included.
