Last December, I got a call from this company claiming that they were from Microsoft and that my computer was being hacked. They showed me fake logs stating that I had been hacked several times. I immediately followed their instructions and bought membership with them for $199. I did not hear from them for another few months, but then I received a call from them saying that my windows license had expired and I would have to pay another $299 to renew it. I had no idea what that meant and I argued with them that I had just paid them close to two hundred dollars. I was angry by the fact that they were asking for more money, but I thought that they were just trying to protect my computer. I finally gave in, and paid them the $299. Again, for a few months I didn't hear from them, but eventually, I got a call from them saying that my computer was again being hacked. I argued with them that my computer was being hacked despite the fact that I had protection services from them. They demanded for another two hundred dollars, but this time I was furious! By this time, my computer had become slower, and lagged much more. I refused to pay them the money and hung up. I had started to suspect that they were scamming me and asked my brother-in-law, who was a technician, to check out my computer and see what was going on. He told me that the software that this company had installed in my computer were the ones that were initially creating problems in my computer. I kept receiving calls from them and just ignored them. Once, tired of their constant calling, I decided to pick up. They told me that they were going to refund my money via Western Union. I initially didn't believe them but later was convinced that they in fact were refunding my money. I followed their instructions and let them connect to my computer. This time, they changed the password to my computer and asked for $400 to return access to my computer. Unable to access my computer, I used a friend's computer to download password recovery software to regain control of my computer on a disk. I put the disk in my computer and was successful in regaining control of my computer. I immediately uninstalled the software that they had installed on my computer, and asked my brother-in-law to put some software that would help protect against these scammers. Now, my computer is running fine, but I still receive calls from them every day. I advise everyone NOT TO GIVE IN TO THESE CALLS! IF THEY CALL YOU, PLEASE HANG UP! They will do nothing but cause you problems. I have wasted both my time and money on these people. THEY REALLY ARE NOT WORTH IT!
