In November, 2012, I ordered a pair of boots from JustFab.com. I considered sending the boots back as their quality was atrocious, but noticed in the small print on the receipt that they charge a $5.95 re-stocking fee for returns...that coupled with the cost of return postage deterred me from returning the inferior product. This morning however, as I reviewed my bank statement, I noticed a charge on my account made by JustFab.com for $39.95, dated today, 12/06/12. I called the company to ask what this charge was for since I had not purchased anything more from them and I was informed by the customer service representative that as a VIP member (I did not know that I was one), I failed to select "skip a month" on their website by December 5, 2012, therefore a non-refundable $39.95 membership fee was charged to my account that can be used as a credit for a future purchase. I was outraged and indicated that I had no idea that I'd be responsible for a $39.95 membership fee each month. The customer service representative reiterated "the terms of membership" and indicated that when I made the purchase from them in November I did agree to their terms of purchase (she referred to a statement that's suppose to be somewhere on my receipt at checkout and also on the receipt that's emailed to me confirming the purchase). I demanded that "my membership" be cancelled and I was issued a case ID number (I had to ask for this). I then asked to speak to a supervisor and was placed on a lengthy hold...a supervisor did eventually come on the line and reiterated everything the customer service rep did, but further added that the notice of the $39.95 fee is also on the receipt that accompanied the merchandise I was sent. I reiterated that this was an appalling way to do business and that notice of the $39.95 membership fee is not prominently nor conspicuously placed so that the average person can see it and immediately know this company's policy. In fact, when you go to their page on how JustFab works, the last thing a potential customer sees is that there is no obligation to buy...doesn't this seem contradictory to this company's actual policy? You are obligated to buy, because they will charge you $39.95 each month if you do not purchase something and fail to log onto their site and select "skip a month."
