I received a call from Jennifer Johnson about my 12 free weeks from Holiday Inn/RCI timeshare that she would market (and rent to their corporate clients) for me for an upfront fee of $1788. She directed me to the RCI website to review my vacation plan and it sounded to me that she was very knowledgable about my timeshare and had all of my information about my current timeshare contract. She said if I didn't use my bonus weeks by January, I would lose them altogether and as a travel agency they ensure the timeshare only goes to "reputable" organizations for their events. I checked ATN website and they appeared to be "reputable" organizations as well. So I agreed to pre-authorize a charge of $1788.00. She informed me that after they rented my weeks, ATN would pay me $14,400, in 2 checks of $7200, thus avoiding the IRS. I became suscipious after the IRS comment and after receiving the contract that they sent me to sign. I called them the next business day and told them that I wanted to cancel the transaction. I have been on the phone with them every week since then getting the run around, Jennifer is out to lunch, the people in the cancellation department is out to lunch, etc. It does not matter what time of the day that I call, nobody is in the office. I am still waiting for my refund. According to the Florida State Attorney General's website, Access Travel Network has to honor my request to cancel a signed contract if I make the request within 7 days and they have to send me the refund within 20 days. It is now Nov 26 and still no refund. If anyone else gets a call from Access Travel Network about this scam, please contract the Florida Attorney Generals Office (myfloridalegal.com/), The Central Florida Better Business Bureau (centralflorida.bbb.org/) and The Orange County Consumer Fraud Unit (http://www.orangecountyda.com/home/index.asp?page=117) and file a complaint. We need to shut down Access Travel Network for deceptive business practices.

  • I too was just suckered into this scam! I feel like such an idiot. However, I never signed the contract but they did get my credit card info and charged the $1490.00. How do I fight this? Did you get any resolution?
