I was having a problem accessing my Norton software, so I decided to call Norton. The 800 number provided enabled me to reach a 'tech' in India. He demonstrated phony things in my computer and said for a one-time fee of 199.99 they'd fix the computer so these things would not recur and would enable the Norton software to do its job.

He spent 2 1/2 hours and could not fix the Norton access which was why I placed the call in the first place. He told me upon my asking that ITech was an arm of Norton.

I had to leave and he asked me to allow him to continue working on the Norton connection. When I returned the desktop had changed, but still unable to reach Norton I finally was able to get their direct number. The young lady said that ITech has nothing to do with Norton and it was then that I knew I had been scammed.

I went to www.norton.com, entered my information after removing the Norton software from my computer and downloaded the latest edition and everything is fine now.

I told the ITech people who have called me twice to credit my Citibank account with the total amount. If they do not Citibank will charge that amount back to them.

Conclusion: stay away from these online crooks!
