I received a completely bogus TNF Denali jacket from Gababella.com in the mail today. It reeks of cigarette smoke & is so cheap-o. Oh how I wish i had researched the site better before buying from them. I know there are fakes out there but I thought since I was avoiding ebay i would be ok. dumb. I am kicking myself because this is obviously the same fake crap being sold all over ebay:

First off, the hood is waaaay to small for the body of the jacket. It looks so ridiculous, like someone stuck a child's hood onto an adult jacket. Plus it is a bit misshapen & the drawstring cords on the hood have the cheapest crappy plastic adjusters hanging off them. TNF would never sell something like this, not even as 2nds.....

2) The fleece is very thin & feels cheap, it is definitely not the same 300 gram thick quality fleece that The North Face Denali is made of (i know because i have a real one)....

3) The zippers---They feel cheap-o, but more specifically there is no "vision" stamped on the base of the main zipper, nor is there "YKK" on the zipper pulls. All TNF products have YKK zippers and they will always have the YKK marking on them!......

4) The Logos, at a glance, look close to the real thing but seems a bit "off". Upon closer inspection it has obvious signs of being fake---the stitching on the logo has visible loose threads and I can see that the stitching connects between some of the letters. Real TNF products have very good quality stitching, you will not find loose threads & the letters are all individually stitched, no connecting threads.

5) The jacket sale tags look funny. The colors a bit faded, not quite the same bright red i usually see. and although they are thick-stock paper like the real tags, there are unclean cuts on them. I own several TNF products and although these are pretty good copies of the real thing, I can tell that these tags are just that. copies.....

6) The tags inside the jacket do not look like what is inside of my real TNF Denali jacket either, the one that i bought last year has several tags inside, they are layered upon each other at the neck and on the side. one with the company name, size, care instructions, one that says "Polartec", another one with a holographic TNF design on it. This fake one has one tag at the neck & one at the side stating it is 100% polyester. that's it....

So obviously this thing is not "100% Authentic" as their website promises. (there are a few other small things i could point out that prove it is not authentic, but i think i made my case...) I emailed the company but do not expect a voluntary refund from them now that i see all the scam complaints.

So I called my bank to inquire about any type of recourse. The customer service rep at TD bank that i spoke with said i can file a dispute of the charges, there are no guarantees but in general the policy is that if i can prove a service was not provided by a company or that a product is fake/misrepresented by the company they might be able to do something for me. I have a chance of getting my $ back (whereas if the item never arrived i would be S.O.L. for sure.) After i file the complaint they'll have a rep look into it & get back to me. At the rep's suggestion i am giving Gababella.com some time to respond to me. I'm sure they won't, but i guess it looks better that i took proper steps to try to resolve it with Gababella before i file. (Hopefully they totally ignore me & it will help make my case.....We'll see...)
