I saw and advert on Gum Tree for a holiday letting in London, 63 Farrigdon Road. I was instructed to transfer money from my account to an account in the name of Robert Thys at the Royal Bank of Scotland, to reserve a weeks stay. He was supposed to email me back with the pin entry for the front door. He did not contact me again and when I rang the mobile number, he put the phone down, now he wont answer it, it just plays music! We have been and view the location, which was not at all as described. I still have his bank account details we communicated via a Yahoo email address.

  • I am in the same situation, except mine is an apartment in Soho.

I'm a graduate student from Turkey who will be living in London for the next year. I paid a deposit of 700 GBP to his account at the Royal Bank of Scotland, exchanging the letting contract with signatures. I'll be in London on the September 17th and he's not answering calls or emails.

  • Hi Bilge I know how you feel, it's very frustrating, but I feel a bit better today, because I have reported him to the police, and I would suggest you do to. They will prosecute if they have enough evidence.
