Hi,I was the internet in about July this year when an add came up for dresses for sale.I clicked on this site but it wasn't a sale for dresses but a a free auction site, as it claimed. There was a live bid going on and the prices were very good so I thought I would give it a try. There was a mobile phone going for £3 and it prompted me to bid on it which I did. Within a few seconds It had come up on the screen that I had won the bid and all I had to do was provide my name and address and details for payment to be taken. On hindsight now I know it was extremely stupid to give my bank details to a company I did not know. I am not usually that stupid. I am always very careful of these things, but the deal seemed so good and genuine that I went ahead. Seconds after I input my details, it flashed up on the screen asking if I wanted to become a member, but I clicked 'No' but it again flashed up that I had signed up to a three months contract at £59.99 per month. Immediately I thought there must have been some mistake and contacted the company at once. I explained there must have been some mistake. Anyway he eventually said it was alright and the membership would be cancelled. I never thought anything about it till the next day I was on the computer and there was an email from them. It had said that I had entered into a 3 month contract with them and it could not be cancelled. I immediately contacted them again explaining that I had already received an email telling me it was cancelled. He wasn't very cooperative and keep repeating that I could not cancel unless I paid £30. I told him that I wanted it cancelled no matter what. I then contacted my credit card company explainng that it was a scam and not to give them any money. The girl told me she could not do that but I would get a refund. On receiving my statement I noticed that there was not only one payment taken off but two, one after the other, a couple of days apart. I immediately went on to Tesco, who is my credit card provider who then took details and said they would get back to me. I eventually received a letter from them informing me that they would not be refunding the money as it had said that in the terms and conditions that I could cancel it with three months. I had already explained to them that I did this but to no avail. I had already sent Tesco all the details of the correspondence between me and this company and showing them the email saying it had been successfully cancelled. Again they kept saying there was nothing they could do about it. I contacted the Ombudsman who contacted them. He told me to give them 6 weeks to reply and if I did not get any satisfaction to send a form back to them which they had sent to me. I have just had a reply again informing me that they are not going to do anything. I feel I have been very badly done to and I cant afford to just lose this amount of money. To me its down and out theft and they are getting away with it. On the internet on certain sites I see that I am not the only one they have done this to, There seems to be many complaining of the same thing, of getting money taken from their accounts for nothing. I dont know how they can keep getting away with it. Anyway my grievance now is with Tesco, who as my credit provider should have refunded me this money. I had contacted them right away about this and told them it was a scam and not to give them any money but they did not take any heed and its me that's out of pocket. I also sent them all the documentation and the email that said the subscription had been cancelled. I feel I am very much within my rights to have my money refunded by Tesco and if anyone can help me I would be more than grateful. Thank you J Keddie
