We were in default of our loan and my husband called the Mortgage Law Group. My husband talked to someone at the group and said that we qualified for a mortgage modification and that by going through their firm, we should be able to settle this matter quickly.He told us that we needed to pay upfront so they could get the modification going. Every week, they told us to send a new form to update the file. This went on for several months. Finally, I convinced my husband to write a letter to the Better Business Bureau. We did and their advice was to perhaps settle this in court. The BBB said there was really nothing they could do. We wrote to Lisa Madigan, and basically there was nothing her office could do. We are looking for people willing to take them to court and file a class action suit. If interested, please email me @ (Personal Information Removed)

- Please report this behavior to the authority that licenses the attorney. If you are in Illinois, this is the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission at www.iardc.org You are also on track with considering an action for malpractice. You should discuss this with a competent attorney.

- Also, the IARDC has a client protection fund. You may be able to make a claim toward getting some of your fees back.
