This guy claimed to be selling a 2003 Mustang GT Premium on Craigslist for $2050. He also said he was on a military base in Missouri getting ready to be deployed with his medical team to Afghanistan. My teenage son was so excited about this car! I on the other hand began to feel skeptical. Why could he only communicate by e-mail and not talk to my son on the phone? Why was he selling the car in Jacksonville, FL on the Jacksonville, FL craigslist and not in Missouri? Why not just sell it there and avoid shipping costs. Then he wanted a money gram, and said he would not get any money until 5 days after we got the car. Well I happen to know with money grams the whole point is that you get your money right away. Also, the guy was pushing telling us we needed to pay before he was deployed on October 31st. My family is very patriotic and we almost fell for his story, but somehow a bad feeling set in and my instincts took over. We have lost $0, but only because we were fortunate enough to check things out. I even went so far as to go in the military.com website and do the "buddy check" to see if the guy was really military. His name did not come up. So, anyway I am only sharing our story so others will beware and be safe from scammers like this one!
