Sent check for $3975.00 from UK Sweepstakes along with a letter stating that we were randomly chosen through a random computer ballot system (through Walgreens, Walmart, etc.) and among 32 declared winners of a $4 million dollar Sweepstakes, for a total of $125,000. Letter stated to call before attempting to use check.
I called ?? (No Name) , (1-647-219-3918)He convinced me that I was using the enclosed check to cover the cost of taxes. Through his instructions, I was supposed to deposit the check into my checking account. Then call back after depositing, and he or someone at that number would tell me where to send the $1995.00 for taxes
I looked online for info regarding scams, and came up with enough info to see this IS a scam.
1).Taxes are NEVER paid through anyone else, or by anyone else. If you really win a lottery or sweepstakes, the only money you owe is the tax which YOU will pay directly to your Government, AFTER you receive the winnings.
This is true in every country, worldwide
I just wanted to post this, in case someone else gets the same garbage in the mail, throw it out, thats what we did
