Hi,
I would like to report a fraud run by the company Oxygen8 that I believe is based in UK.
I was searching in internet (some 2 weeks ago) and (as usually) a window popped-up telling me something like “O!, we see you are a iPad user …just asking simple questions you can win an iPad…and a testimony from someone that it was fun to answer the questions… ” I never believe in this kind of stories and I usually close this adds. This time I could not get off the window and it kept telling me something like stay alert on latest something…just sign your cell for a chance to win ….I think that I put my cell number then. In a moment, I received a messages on my cell telling me “hello…bla-bla” and a question like “ where is the headquarter of Apple?”, so I answer. I had no idea that the messages are coming from, now I guess, maybe UK and that is how Rogers, Canadian phone company provider end up charging me as “third party charges”.
Obviously, Rogers (my cell phone provider), did not even question if there is any agreement for these messages that I accept paying.
As such: 1) I am not a customer of Oxygen8 (or if I am , I did not know that), 2) I did not receive any services and 3) I never subscribed to any whatever services – I am just paying the cell phone charges! Would that means that, soon businesses will get hold of our cell phones and will start sending us unsolicited messages for which we will be paying for and our cell phone providers will not even question the nature of these messages?
I called several times the Oxygen8 “customer care” number to get this resolved but the phones were dropping dead. I will greatly appreciate getting a feedback to my complaint on my e-mail: [email protected].
