On August 31st I was searching for 2 canon 24-70 lenses and came across their website on google.com, nice a lens that you can't find anywhere else for less than $1600.00 for $1199.00 and the website said they had it in stock. Great, tought I was going to be able to fullfill my clients orders. Placed the order and added next day air shipping to it as my clients have been waiting for these lenses for almost a month. 4 days later I receive a call from them to follow up the order, again as I seen after I got scammed by them they came with the same bs. "This lens will not work on your camera, this is a japanese model made out of plastic and they only work on 35mm cameras". I've been selling professional cameras and accessories for over 10 years now and I know that the lenses that I ordered do work on digital cameras and they are not totally made out of plastic, so I asked the guy if this was canon Mfr# 8014A002 and he said yes but it wont work on my camera, if I want one that works on my camera I need to buy the newer model for $ 2299.00. Well maybe he just don't know what he's selling. But no, he does know what he's selling and it's a cheap immitation that he's buying from somewhere in China or even in Japan but I'm sure isn't Canon because I called them and they said there's no difference between the USA model and the Japanese model. So now I need to decide what I will do and I decide to check if there's complaints about them on the internet, didn't find one but lots of complaints about their sale tatics, the order now was showing as backorder on their website and I was so happy to be able to call and cancel that on September 6th I did, called and spoke again with the same guy as this looks like a one man scam, but he does have different names, everytime you call he gives you one. He told me that the order was now cancelled, I'm so stupid that even after a lot of complaints saying that they will still charge your card didn't cancel the card, good news, yesterday the amount of $ 2298.00 was placed on hold on my credit card, right away I knew it was them, called again and the same guy answered the phone, after putting me on hold for 30 minutes he told me that he couldn't refund the charge because they already shipped the item from Japan and that I've never cancelled the order. Also said that I wasn't the person that placed the order because he had spoke to who placed the order and that wasn't me. I then told him to refund the money asap as since I'm not the one who placed the order that was an unauthorized use of my card, he said I have to wait for the items to arrive and then I can return for a store credit or exchange. Now the only thing that's left for me to do is wait until the charge post to my card so I can dispute the charge, and hopefully find a way to get the police involved in this scam so they can stop robbing people.

Update: 09/13/2012

Refund received today after a few online bad reviews. Thanks to all the websites that allowed me share my problem with this company.

  • After placing complaints in a few websites I got a call from someone apologizing for what happened and he told me that a refund had been issued to me, but he also asked me to give him a 5 star rating in the reviews websites I posted my bad experience. I'll tell that I got my money back but a 5 star rating means that I'm happy with the service or product that I bought, I didn't get anything from them so how can I be happy. Refunding me the money they took from me for a cancelled order is nothing more than their obligation to a customer. I'm still unhappy that I ordered something from their website and after that was informed that the product I ordered wasn't what I thought it was, they said it was a Japanese version but after I contacted Canon I knew that wasn't an original product. 2 products can't have the same manufacturer code and be different, that is what i was told by Canon and that's the main reason why I cancelled my order. Well it's good to know that they still want to have a good internet rating so more people can buy from them and they can refund only the ones that complaint.
