A person named Carlton Alferez contacted me from this company three times stating I was approved for a $5,000 loan. I had called him back at the number he gave 1-888-630-2083. I went through the whole series of questions for him regarding the loan and it seemed like a very good deal. Considering my credit is horrible, I was behind in rent, bills and no food in the fridge, I thought it was a sign from "above" that this company came and answered my prayers. They faxed me all the necessary paperwork and made it a point to let me know that the paperwork was "legal and binding". Because I had such bad credit, the company needed $485.00 to secure the loan. I was able to borrow the $485.00 and was then told by Carlton Alferez that I needed to wire transfer the money to them. He said he would get me all the information and call me back. He called me back an hour later and said that due to their company being in Canada, I had to wire the money Western Union, which I did. I was told to send the money to a Lisa Howell. Later that day, after 20 phone calls, I finally got someone on the phone who stated that Carlton Alferez had to leave early due to an unexpected family emergency and that his name was Chris. Chris checked on the status of my loan and said that because of my credit history, I needed to send another $400 over. At this point, I was hysterically crying and told Chris that I already had to borrow the $485 and that I had no money left. I also told him that I had overdrawn my bank account and that because of this, all my checks were going to bounce. He said that he would refund my money the next day. I called Chris back the next day and he said that they would be putting my check in the mail that day and even had the nerve to apologize and said to just wait for the check. The next week, after 20 phone calls a day and no answer, and after my 900th phone call and the phone number was suddenly "unavailable" I realized I had been scammed.
I immediately contacted Western Union to try and find out if the money was picked up and where in Canada the money was picked up. I had every intention on trying to catch these people and am still on the hunt. I reported the crime to the Western Union Fraud and Consumer Protection Department at 1-800-448-1492. They advised me to contact my local police department, which I did. However, it did not seem enough. I did some research and found that this company has a website: http://www.creditgainfinancial.com
I also reported this to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who advised me that this is called an "Advanced Fee Fraud." On the fax papers this Carlton person sent me, he had a fax# of 1-289-233-2285 which when you call is a cellular number. I contacted the carrier of the cellular company and reported the phone number to them as well and told them that this number is being used to conduct fraud and it is being used to steal money from people. I then reported this company with all the information that I had to the American Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
I know that $485 to most is nothing but to someone who has nothing, it is alot of money. I am still doing what I can to try and find these bastards and let them know that I am hunting them down... whether I get my money back or not!
If anyone reads this, stay away from a company called Creditgain Financial - 70 E. Beaver Creek, Suite 404, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4B 3B2 Although the phone number is stating it is "unavailable" the number they were operating with was: 1-888-630-2083. The "fax" number or mobile number to these people are 1-289-233-2285 which is still an active phone number when you call it. I have left messages on this number letting them know that I am still after them. BEWARE OF ANYONE who is offering you money and wants money upfront.
