I have a 2001 Magna Executive and are a member of RACQ [ membership # 30836700 4829 6234 ] and had some trouble starting my car. What I did was ring RACQ. RACQ Cooktown told me the towtruck was busy, anyway my car was " dry towed " to Cooktown Auto repairs workshop.I was told by Ray [ the owner ] and RACQ Rep. that the fuel pump was the cause so he replaced that also the fuel filter. The problem was not solved { the car would not start... same problem. When I managed to get it going I returned to his workshop and told him I was having the same problem.I left the car with him and when I wentback he said that what he had done [ fuel pump and filter was not the problem] the problem now was with the fuel pump relay. This is AFTER I had paid him $ 271.00. Labour 1.5 hours $ 120 plus Gst $ 12.00 = $ 132.00. 1 x Electric Fuel Pump $ 109.00 plus Gst $ 10.91 = $ 120.00.1 x Q Fuel Filter Z528 Ryco $ 17.45 plus Gst $ 1. 75 = $ 19.20 Being a total of $ 271.20. He rewired it so the car would go while he was getting the new fuel pump relay. When I got home I noticed that the digital readout on the dashpanel was not working and also some mat inserts on the consul were also missing. I took the car back to him and left it at his workshop. When I returned he then told me it was a faulty switch in the interior light.I accepted this in good faith but as it now turns out I shouldn't have.On that same day he advised me that he could not obtain an " after market " fuel pump relay so I asked him to get a Genuine fuel pump relay from Mitsubishi. He agredd to do this and I went away after being told by him that he would " chase it up " and ring me when it arrived.Monday 27/08/12 the car wouldn't start again [ this is 5 weeks later ] so I rang Cooktown Auto Repairs and the lady I spoke to went into the workshop to speak to Ray. When she got back on the phone she told me that Ray said it would be another 3 weeks to get it and that he would ring me straight back [ this was about 8 am ] so I waited till 11 am and walked into town to his workshop. He did not seem to be concerned about but agreed it was his fault for not getting the fuel pump relay and that he would come to my home and try to get my car going. That was 11am 27/08/12. It is now 10:43 am 28/08/12 and hes still not here. His workshop is about 3 kilometers away from my home.I don't think he should have anything to do with RACQ as he is not a genuine person and he is obviously not to be trusted when it comes to RACQ members of for that matter anyone in the public sector. I am disappointed with this whole affair and I still have no transport at this time . I don't know what other avenues to pursue as he is the only repair shop in Cooktown. The next nearest is Mareeba and that is over 2 hrs drive away.I would appreciate it if you could advise me concerning this matter. Many thanks and kind regards Des Young.
