CTA(Cruise,Travel, Attractions)/Passport to Travel

My husband and myself were contacted last year by a company CTA-(Cruise Travel Attractions) to attend a promotional presentation for a travel club. For attending the meeting we were to receive 2 airline tickets to anywhwere in the US. We did attend the meeting in Tampa which took several hours of our time. We initially decided to join for a $2000 charge but the next day had second thoughts and sent a next day delivery return receipt registered mail for $34.26 to cancel this. For the 2 "free" airline tickets we initially paid $4.95 processing fee and then on 8/23/2011 another $100 money order ($50 each) and then after we traveled got a $716.40 charge for transfers,fees,surcharges,taxes. This brought the total to $821.30 for our 2 free airline tickets. I could have purchased the tickets with points or done fare watcher alerts and paid less than I did. The misrepresentation by CTA and Passport to Travel is a travesty. I am very surprised that these companies are still in business and allowed to rip people off. With all the government regulation and interference these days, why have these companies not been dealt with? Lynn and Harry Jones
