The text cam from 470-848-3008. It came at 2:14am which leads me to believe it didn't come from this country/timezone. I did a google search on the phone number and some pages came up about phone numbers in Russia. Is that where this scam is originating from, or at least where the call center is??? Both my parents received this text on Rogers in Alberta, I received it on Bell/Solo in Alberta, and I have now spoken with people on Virgin Mobile, Telus and Koodo. This leads me to believe that it is not carrier specific. I do not believe our cell phone carriers are selling our numbers. It is not hard for people to find out what numbers are cell phones and what numbers are landlines. I'm willing to bet they are just randomly generating the numbers and blanket sending out these messages. I would still recommend calling your carrier and filing a complaint with them. The more people call their carriers, the more the carriers will be likely to try to get to the bottom of it. Be a squeaky wheel.
