We got a phone call this morning in New Zealand from a very friendly American lady of the name Tabetha. She had all of our details which she said she got from a form we filled out on the internet...one of those 'You are a winner' forms I beleive.
She said that we have qualified to 'win' a 10 day holiday in Florida staying at the Hilton hotel 'or equivalent' and a trip via the Carnival cruise line to the Bahamas where we were to enjoy endless fun with watersports and the like.
She then passed the phone to a guy named charles who was to 'register' us. The conversation consisted of him confirming what the lady had stated about our 'once in a lifetime trip' and went on to say that they were offering all this because they wanted us to attend a 90min seminar on timeshares.
To register we had to pay $600 odd US dollars and he needed our credit card details. When we declined to give said details, he passed the phone to his manager. The manager did not introduce himself but got angrier and angrier at our denial to handover our credit card details. He said that we were not to have any time to think and that we would loose our chance at this 'once in a lifetime holiday' if we do not register on that phone call. We politely declined and he cut the line.
Please be very wary of such phone calls and never give your credit card details away. If indeed we have 'won' something we should not have to pay for it
