The approach was as described in your article. They actually did speed up my computer. After a couple of "service" calls they put the hard word on to change the security software etc. The clincher was that my old XP 's Registry Name (or License Number) had run out and thus would expose me to unstoppable attacks and eventually my computer would fail. They could supply a new valid number for $199.00. I rang Microsoft in Sydney and they just laughed.
