Craigslist.org scam to sell a 2002 New Holland Tractor for $3,100. I located the listing in Charleston, SC. The price was unreasonably cheap. It seemed like a scam so I went looking and found the exact same posting title had been listed in Dallas, Cincinnati, Battery Park and elsewhere.

The scam was also found on this site for an Acura car with a similar email: [email protected].

Here is the email thread:

Hi Bob,
As I told you in my first email, I recently got divorced. I got a new job and moved to Topeka KS for a new start. The tractor is already at the shipping company in Topeka sealed and ready for the shipping. My presence won't be necessary because I prearranged the deal with Amazon. The deal includes free delivery and it will arrive at your address in 3 days. You will have 5 days to try out prior to making any purchase and if by any reason you find something you don't like about it you can send it back at my expense.
If you are interested in knowing more info about how it works, I can ask Amazon to send you an email with more information on how to purchase it. Amazon will contact you shortly after they have the details with all the information that you need to complete this deal and you will also have proof that I am covered by them and a legitimate seller. If you would like to receive the email from Amazon will all the transaction information please reply with your full name and phone # and they will contact you right away.

Regards

Hello Bob,
My name is Jennifer, and I'm emailing you about the New Holland TC29D I have for sale. The tractor is in very good shape, no mechanical issues and no rust on it. It has 533 hours and comes. I legally own a clear title, free of any liens or loans, under my name. The price was reduced at $3,100. Because of my divorce settlement, i own this tractor and as a woman i don`t need it so i`m trying to get rid of it as soon as possible (that`s why i`m selling it so cheap).
One the following link you can find more pictures: http://s1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh633/New-Holland-TC29D/?albumview=slideshow
If you have any other questions, or need more info, please feel free to ask.

Thank you,
Jennifer

  • I had the exact same email chain with her today regarding a Winnebago she has for sale. I found other complaints involving a truck, boat, motorcycle, car, motorhome and now tractor. Buyer beware! Or thats one heck of divorce settlement...
