already written long complaint, went to read 'terms & conditions' all disappeared! I initially was experiencing problems with Hotmail! I could not locate a support telephone no. so did a 'google search' Found this freephone no. for UK: 0800 756 2992. Duly telephoned, checked it was Hotmail support, to which lady with Indian accent said Yes! Said she could 'help me - account had been hacked'This involved REMOTE ACCESS to my laptop! I am not usually 'taken in' by such things but caught at 'weak moment' awaiting urgent email! I got an automated call from my VISA card co. to which I confirmed 'Yes it was myself who made the payment'! I have now obtained a form from my card holder informing me I MUST contact the co. first. I have sent various emails (after having had my laptop screened/fixed by an expert) to them; got a phone call from 'unavailable no' which we do not usually answer. A man with English name but sounding Indian! 'remote access part of our service, saves sending out an engineer'!! I have since found out this co. is a SCAM! My payment - split into 2 payments for an unknown reason - had gone to Los Angeles! However, found IP address of this 'co' is nr. to New Delhi, India! Basically they got everything - docs., photos, notes, diary etc. from my laptop! It is quite unlikely I will get recompense from my card co. but I just wish to warn anyone reading this about these scammers! I have emailed them stating that the 'service' was not fit for purpose under the Sale & Supply of Goods & Services Act 1982. They 'sold me' what they called AVG Malwarebytes 2012 anti-virus. I removed this as various things kept 'flashing up' obscuring what I was working on/reading. I informed them this was of unfit 'quality' - it could even have been getting more info. from my laptop or was genuine but 'intrusive'?! I then had to spend some hours changing passwords on all the accounts I use. Also beware what you often find on Google searches. Seems they allow? these scams to show up.

  • TECH SUPPORT USA - CORRECTION!! There appear to be several companies with similar name! I got a very helpful pre-arranged timed phone call from a most helpful representative of this company. He said I could name him: Mike Williams! He was extremely polite and helpful, offered further help, but I said I hadn't been happy with particular anti-virus, he has offered refund on behalf of the company. I was very impressed with his very prompt help; I did decline 'remote access' for more help with laptop, as all seems to be working just fine now since I removed the anti-virus which I was told usually works extremely well. Apologies if I got confused by other blogs on 'google searches' with companies of similar name!! I am happy that as gesture of 'goodwill' I have the offer of refund and can expect this in about 3-4 working days! Well done & thanks again!

  • TECH SUPPORT MART - correction! They have been very efficient and helpful. There do appear to be companies I've read about with a very similar name and had complained. I have had a lot of help only today from a very polite representative of this company, who as a gesture of goodwill, is offering refund!

  • TECH SUPPORT MART USA SCAM? (not to be confused with co. of similar name). Further news: I received email 'notification of refund' 2nd August. NOTHING came into my card a/c despite there being 5 'working bank days'! Have called and emailed since. Last email indicated there 'was a problem' with my credit card co.! I don't think so!!! The matter is now with Barclaycard - see what happens. Doubt will 'see my money' again. Don't get 'taken in' by TECH SUPPORT MART USA!
