In 2009/2010 My wife and I had wireless service with Verizon Wireless, but because of job changes and unemployment we could no longer afford the service. I called Verizon several times requesting that they close my account and that I would satisfy the balance owed. Verizon Wireless continued to rack up charges on the account until the bill reached over $1400. I continued to dispute the matter with Verizon and even contacted the BBB. The Better Business Bureau got Verizon to agree to a settlement, however the day before I was to make the first payment I received an alert from my credit monitoring service that Verizon was reporting the account as skipped. I refused to send them the payments because of what Verizon had done. I then contacted the office of Consumer Protection, they later contacted Verizon. A woman by the name of Jasmine Telle contacted me (a Verizon Rep.), only to dispute my claim and tell me that Verizon would not be changing their position on the matter. She wanted me to send her proof of my dispute, only to delay resolving this matter. I asked her what was the purpose of calling me if she had no intentions of resolving this matter. I also stated to her that I am only interested in resolving this matter.
I would advise anyone not to use Verizon Wireless. Thank God for the internet, to tell thousands of how terrible a company Verizon Wireless is.
