I signed up for a WordPress "training class" through this business owner, from which I was promised to learn "his secrets of success" and "get my business to the top of Google", along with how to build a successful blog / website via WordPress and walk away with a completely new, highly functioning blog site that would help my business, as well as promote his "classes" and the kind of work he does. There was also supposed to be a handout or training manual to take with me . . . something to refer back to when I needed help. Also, I was told that I could "call with questions anytime", as it was in his "best interest" to have "shining examples of students from his class doing his work". What a load of crap this turned out to be. The class consisted of this business owner whizzing through the information, hardly giving me time to take proper notes and giving attitude when I asked questions throughout the class. He would either ignore me or move to another segment, when I had not understood the previous segment. This has been extremely frustrating, as well as costly, as I do not have a functioning blog site, nor am I able to get any assistance from this business owner. He is ignoring my phone calls and emails with requests for help, or a refund, since I did not get what was promised from this class. I have sent request and messages via email, Facebook and by phone to no avail. This person is ignoring my requests for resolution. I am seeking a refund for services NOT rendered!

  • Wow, I took the same class and this is not at all what I experienced. In fact, I found the instructor to be quite knowledgable and insightful. Yes, the class was fast paced, but maybe because I had just finished my summer semester I found him easy to keep up with. Also, I did have a working website when I completed my class. I also had a few follow up questions and found my instructor to be quite timely in responding to me.
If I am correct Raven was allowed to sit in on a second class for free. I know this because I was in the 2nd class with her. I was disappointed to see this complaint because she didn't really seem like she needed any extra help, barely asking any questions. I have even been able to put together another website and blog on my own, it's a work in progress. But I still feel the time and money was well spent.

  • Raven had difficulty comprehending the information provided and was allowed to sit through the class a second time the following week free of charge. At no time did she indicate any dissatisfaction with the course -- either time. She called me on a weekend while I was in the car asking for help. I directed her to email me a list of her challenges and I would assist her. I did not receive an email from her and 4 days later she writes this negative review. The course included over $500 of products and services to include commercial plugins, web hosting, domain names, commercial templates, She has a working website online that is near completion. This is the third time this class has been offered and all students except her have been pleased with what was provided. Here is one example:

"I can't thank Russ enough for sharing all of his knowlege and experience, and holding no secrets back. I'm just happy I was able get in on his training before he realizes what he should really charge for this class. He has saved me immeasurable time, money, and frustration moving forward!"

As a side note, Raven sent me a FB message today apologizing for the reviews....here is what she wrote:

"I'll retract the complaints Russ . . . I cannot deal with all of this right now. I continue to be bombarded with bad news. I'm sorry."

I wish her the best in her personal and professional life.

  • I am surprised to hear that this was Raven's experience. I was present during her second class, and I joined the students for lunch that afternoon. When I asked everyone how they thought the class was going, Raven never expressed that she was having any difficulty. I do know that this was Raven's 2nd class and that she was not being charged to take it over. I find it hard to understand why she feels the class was a "rip off", when most businesses would not be as accommodating to provide a second class at no charge. In addition to the valuable information offered in the class, there was about $500.00 in software provided. I would definitely recommend this course, it is money well spent.

  • I was in the first of these classes offered, and I found the instructor to be extremely knowlegeable and helpful. The course was laid out to build a Wordpress site from start to finish, with all steps covered. Not only the 'how to', but all the he shared all the plug-ins, and tricks he uses to get his websites to the top of the search engines. The instructor is very obviously an expert with Wordpress and SEO and he is very willing to share his knowledge in this class. Any questions I had during the class were answered, and any questions I have had since have been answered in a timely matter. Understand that he is very busy because of the quality of his work, and can't grab every phone call as it comes in. I just text or email, and I get an answer in what I consided an VERY reasonable amount of time.
All in all, this is a very well laid out class, and worth probably more than the $997 cost. Well done SpyderByte!

  • I was the other student in this class (Russ intentionally keeps the classes small to allow for more individual attention). None of her complaints are valid.

First Russ never "promised a training manual"; rather we took notes on the lecture, which actually did give us all the information we needed to form a functional website.

Secondly, she only asked a few questions, insisting that she understood the material. Every question that was asked during the class (I asked probably 80% of them), Russ answered and "attitude". As a side note, Russ has been doing my company's SEO for over a year and I've never seen him give "attitude" to anyone.

In total, the class was 8 hours on the first day. He invited us back the next day to help us finish the site if we needed it, stating that we could stay as long as we liked.

Incidentally, I managed to take comprehensive notes, and I am anything but a speed note taker.

In short, I have had nothing but good experience with SpiderByte Media and Russ. This woman is completely full of crap.
