Me and my boyfriend purchased food items and non-food items. while i was looking for baby orajel, he told the cashier to ring everything up separately. the cashier told us that if we have food items and non-food items and were going to pay with ebt that it would separate the items automatically. so as she rang us up i told her that we were gonna use ebt for the food items and cash for the non-food items. she acknowledged this by say "okay" we told her that the balance on my boyfriends ebt card was $17.00. So she put that towards the transaction and she said to the both of us, "you still have .95 cents left, do you want to use the .95 cents that is still left on the card?" i asked her "if there was any other food items left that i needed to use my ebt card on?" Because i had my ebt card in my hand and not my boyfriends. (after using only his ebt card the total was $28.63 cents.) She said " No, the rest of the items are not food, you need to pay cash" and so that is when i had got the $28 out and gave it to her. I was still looking around in my wallet for the .63 cents. For like a minute or two the cashier said" don't worry about it" she opens the register and as i am getting my bags my boyfriend sees her taking money out of the register as if she was going to give me change, and then closes it! ( she put my money in, and took money out but she never gave me anything back) When i got home and realized i she charged me for food items and the rest of the non-food items. my boyfriend walked back to the store and told the cashier what had happen and that she owed us money. she told him to come back tomorrow and talk to the manager. So he went back the next day and he talks to the assistant manager. she tells him that " the general manager will give you a call later this week" the general manager has not called us, and we have been to that store everyday since 7/02/12 asking about the progress of us getting back our money. well it is 7/08/12 and i walked into Dollar general to buy some supplies, and ask about the issue. The assistant manager tells me that we were not suppose to use two ebt cards in one transaction, and that there is no chance of me getting my money back. She also said " They're plenty of jobs out here, I pay taxes so that people can use their ebt cards and not have to pay taxes, it's not fair." I thought that was very unprofessional. So in short i want to sue the company! it isn't fair that they should hire people who aren't good at their jobs. People who don't know how to count or ring-up items. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! I want to let the company know that they can't treat people this way.
