On or around June 2, 2011 I saw a 99 DODGE CARAVAN LE/HANDICAP *** $4000 (DECATUR) van listed on Craigslist. I'm a quadriplegic and drive a handicap van that is old with a lot of mileage, so I'm in need of another van. When I saw the listing I was interested in buying the van. The listing was posted by Phillip Gantner, who I emailed: [email protected]. He emailed back and said he was out of town to help organize his daughter's wedding and would be there a while. He said this is no problem because he was selling it through NAT services. He said if I had not used NAT before, he would explain it to me in detail. He said he wanted to sell it now because he needed the money for his daughter's wedding. I checked all the websites I could find on NAT and found only good reviews, so I started the process. I received emails from NAT explaining how the process worked. I would wire the money to Barclays in London, once the funds were verified the van would be shipped to me for a 10 day inspection. I could not afford $4000.00 so I talked to my wife and she agreed to sell her vehicle which we believed we could get at least $4000.00 and she would drive this van until my van was unrepairable. To begin the process, I went to my credit union and used our home equity line of credit and wired the money. This was all the credit we had left on our HELOC. The van was never sent, and I realized I had been scamed. I went back to my credit union to see if the money could be retrieved. A couple weeks later, thay notified me that they could not get the money back. No futher emails from Gantner or NAT.
