on 2/27/2012 i brought my car in to Firestone at 2522 S Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs CO, 80891-2802 I brouhgt my car in to have a coolant leak fixed, they noticed a few other repairs that need to be done which I agreed to have done such as: performed a pressure test ,tune up, with spark plugs,
wires , fuel system cleaning , oil change, replaced upper intake
manifold gasket, transmission axel mount and did a coolant flush on
2/27/2012 on my 2002 Pontiac. I really wanted just the coolant
leak fixed but thought since I was there I would get all the
above fixed since I was there. when I picked up the I was told
there was a little engine noise but it would even out after the
oil was warm. I went not even a block the engine died and siezed
and I was told I needed a new engine.
Your Complaint: On 2/27/2012 I brought my car in to be fixed due
to a coolant leak, it wasn't a bad leak, I just did not want to
take a chance with it, adding coolant every month or so. The car
was running fine and no mechanical issue at all, just a coolant
leak. The engine ran smooth and steady. I dropped off the car and
never received a call back. Around 7:00 pm I contacted them and
they said to come pick it up. When I got there service guy stated
there was a small noise in the engine but it should go away when
the engine warms. I paid my bill of 1175.00 dollars and left. I
got no more than 1 block and the car died. I called them and they
sent a tow truck to pick me up. When I got there they said they
would call me in the morning to let me what happened. Two days
past and I heard nothing. I called again and the store manager
stated they had no Mechanic with the skill to work on the car
they were both off and one was on vacation. I believe they waited
to spring the real bad news on me so my debit card would clear.
On 2/29 I called and talked to the store manager and (chris) and
he stated That I never changed my Oil and because the the sticker
and filter was still on the car for 35000 miles which is just not
ture. I am a ex- mechanic and know the importance of changing my
oil as I did on my own. Then the shell bomb hit I was told the
car needed a new engine. I questioned him and he stated he would
send my car to a third party inspector, which I found out they
paid the inspectors, so much for a unbiased and fair inspection.
Long story short the conclusion was " the engine is internally
flawed and will require disassembly to verify the cause of the
irregular knocking noises audioible along with the extent of the
damage" In other words I would have to pay to have this fixed. On
2/29 I called Nationwide Arbitration and Inspections and talked
to a Jessie Blake who informed me that she was willing to refund
half my money and have the car towed to my house. I did receive
587.50 dollars and they did tow my car to my home. Which I
appreciated. The problem is I have a car that ran great with no
issues except a coolant leak sitting in front of my house with a
dead battery that was not dead before and they took my initial
bill with the inspection for what I do not know. I had to buy a
another car which added another unexpected payment which has put a
financial strain on me and my family and for what " terrible work." I
cannot believe the car was running when I brought it in and now
it had to be towed to my home.
As of today 7/3/2012 it sits in front my home with no help from Bridgestone who just never returns my calls or calls my son just to avoid taking repsonsibility.

  • On March 1, 2012 a claim was set up for Michael and an independent inspector was assigned to determine if the cause of failure was related to the work performed at our store. The inspector stated that the repairs performed at the store were quality repairs and found no issues with them. He also stated that there was no evidence present to suggest the current internal engine problem was caused by or related to the previous services performed by our store. As a gesture of goodwill our claims agent offered a refund of ½ of the cost of services and advised Michael that he would have to get the engine torn down to determine the root cause of the failure. Should it appear that the store’s service caused the failure the claim would be reopened and an inspector would be sent out to verify the findings. If the claim is then accepted the cost of the teardown would be reimbursed as part of the claim. We realize that Michael is sincere in his beliefs and regret that we could not come to a more favorable decision without supporting evidence to properly determine liability.
