Where do I start, we arrived in long Beach and decided to call hotels.com for a place to stay before our flight the next day. The Carlton Motel was close and sounded like a great deal because we also have two dogs and the hotel is posted as pet friendly. We needed to check in early because we were shipping our car out of Long beach and the car had to be at the pier before four o'clock. We decided we would head to the motel to check in and drop off our luggage so that we could clean out our car to ship, and when we arrived at the Carlton Motel the manager told us we could not check in until three pm. We told him our situation and thought he may be understanding, but all he could do is repeat three o'clock in a rude manner. Well we just decided to come back after 3pm because we had already made the reservations and needed to get things done regardless. When we finally came back at three we unloaded all of our luggage and checked in and got ready to settle in when one of the employees came out and said that we did not reserve a pet friendly room. We told him that we were told that the motel was a pet friendly motel, but he said they only have two rooms that allow pets. This was very upsetting because the manager did not tell us this when we arrived and he even saw our dogs. We then had to find another hotel, and during this time while I was looking for a place to stay my husband stayed with the luggage at the Carlton because our transportation would not allow the capacity of our belongings. While he sat there, he saw someone check into a room and they had a bulldog. They charged us and we did not even stay there. We have never been so upset and mistreated. The service was terrible!!!
