Complaint 131358 Details

I received a letter from Wal-Merchandise & Control, Inc. informing me that I had been hired to participate in their Secret Shopper Program. The letter stated that I had to complete two assignments. I was given a check in the amount of $1,398.30 and was told that I would get paid $300 to complete the 2 assignments. $1,040 including $90 would have to be sent to Western Union. The second assignment was to take $58.30 to shop at any Costco, Bestbuy, WalMart, etc. and evaluate the employees performance. Unfortunately, I fell prey to this scandalous scheme. I deposited the checks, went to Western Union and sent the money as instructed in the letter. The next day, I went to the bank and found out that not only was my bank account overdrawn, but all of my accounts were closed!!! I immediately notified the authorities and reported this fraudulent scam. The man behind this scam went by the name of Frank Dawson, telephone number 1-289-892-3939. The receiver of the money was Dave Simpson, (which may not even exist). After the incident, I tried to call Frank Dawson and he told me that the company would refund me my money and he hung up. After several attempts to contact him, he simply didn't answer any of my calls which infuriated me. At that point, knew I was doomed for good. Therefore, if anything comes in the mail with the name Wal-Merchandise & Control, Inc. disregard it and inform the authorities immediately. Under ordinary circumstances, I would have done my some research. Since I was enrolled in a similar program, I thought the assignment came from the company that I signed up with. Unfortunately, it did not and I became a victim of a fraudulent ploy. Beware of such scammers!!!
