Multiple ads for 2009 BMW R 1200 GSA Adventure for $5800

Inquiry led to these emails:

6/23/12... Hi, Sorry for the delay but for some unknown reasons your mail went to
my junk folder and saw it now. The bike is available. It's in an
excellent condition, very clean, always garaged kept. Never been
dropped, laid down, raced or involved in any accidents. The paint is
flawless and has no scratches at all and has mirror shine. It has been
regularly maintained and runs like brand new with no issues. I have all
the maintenance records. Clear title. For pictures let me know and make
sure you check also your spam/bulk folder because they might go there.
Thanks

6/23/12 (with multiple photos)...Hi again, here are some pictures of the bike. The bike belonged to my husband. He died in Afghanistan in February this year when a military helicopter was shot down in eastern Afghanistan. He was an addicted biker and babied it very carefully. Since he past away, I've been ridding it and took care of it as my husband did. My family convinced me to let it go as it's the only way to pass this huge loss. It's a very hard thing to do but I'm trying to accept this situation and get over it.
Right now I'm in Honolulu, Hawaii due to my job (I'm an Air Force MSgt) and the bike is here with me. My husband left it here before leaving in Afghanistan so all the maintenance could be performed on time.
Since this is an online transaction I want both of us to be safe. For this transaction I will be using eBay Purchase Protection program, which means that you will receive the bike in the first place and you'll have 5 days inspection period until you decide if you want to keep it or not. I will pay for the shipping taxes as the delivery will be made through our Air Force affiliated shipping company and they will take care of everything (title transfer, insurance, paperwork, etc...). A refund policy is included which means that if for any reason you do not want to buy the bike, it will be returned to me on my expense.
If you agree with these terms please let me know your name, shipping address and phone# so that I can forward them to eBay and have the transaction started. They will send us invoices regarding this transaction as soon as the info is processed.
I'm waiting for your reply as soon as possible.
Thanks.

[FYI..No American soldiers died in an Afghanistan helicopter crash in Feb 2012]

6/25/12...Hi, Sorry for the delay but it's a chaos here. VIN# WB10390099ZW85195. See bellow the short verification I did myself...The price is $5800 with shipping included. If you agree please reply me with your full name and shipping address so that I can start the eBay transaction, if not just let me know so I can try to find another buyer.
Thanks

[FYI..This is a valid VIN and is registered in California however the owner is NOT the scammer]

6/27/12...I'm working at aerospace control and warning after a hectic schedule here so it's more convenient for me this way. As I've said the costs of the shipping will be ok because AF Shipping delivers almost free of charge for us. Also they will handle all the necessary paperwork and title transfer.
I'm selling it because I need liquidity ASAP so if you agree please reply me with your full name and shipping address so that I can start the eBay transaction, if not just let me know so I can try to find another buyer.
Thanks

***Entering the VIN into Google shows that this motorcycle was for bid on Ebay in May 2012 however the owner did not sell it and still owns it (see conversation below)***

ME: Did you end up selling this? I'm asking because it looks like it is for sale somewhere else

OWNER: what are you referring to?

ME: Sorry, I thought the posting was with it. it was a 2009 BMW R-Series BMW R1200GS ADVENTURE listed in May of this year.

OWNER: got it, ..no ... i decided no to sell for now... these bikes are going for 18k and I did not wanted to sell under 20.

Conversations with the scammer may continue...I'm hoping to lure him out where police can get him...websites carrying the ad have been notified but are slow to remove it.
