    • Rooms To Go Furniture Store Complaint / User Submitted Image #12970

Like three years ago, I purchased” leather sectional" at a Rooms-To-Go Furniture Store. I took extremely good care of it. To my surprise thesectional started peeling. When I complaint to the Rooms-To-Go customer service they told me there was nothing they can do since the warranty had expired. I believe that if  you purchase a good quality leather a sofa or sectional it should at least last a few years not just three years. Customer service personnel did nothing for me, they didn't even send a technician to take a look at the sectional that was peeling. Nor they recommended any professionals for me to take care of the problem out of my own pocket. This proves to me that the furniture at Rooms-To-Good is of poor quality. Cheap "leather" from China. That is if it is real leather which I doubt. Now my almost newly purchased sectional is peeling everywhere and there is nothing I can do about it. I am so disappointed at Rooms-To-Go. They shouldn't be fooling their customer into thinking they are buying quality furniture or real leather when it fact they are not and just as soon as the warranty ends their furniture will be worth nothing. When you walk into their show rooms everyone is nice and helpful but once you make the purchase all that disappears. Apparently they only want their commission and would lie to you to sell you their cheap furniture if they have too. The customer service department is the worst I ever seen they are very unprofessional, rude and unhelpful. I am not the only one who shares the same opinion of Rooms-To-Go. I know many but mannny people that have gone through the same problem with Rooms-To-Go. And we wont rest until the whole world knows about this problem and their inferior merchandise. I will post it on FaceBook, Twitter, chains of emails, local news paper and blogs if I have too. I will Report this to the Better Business Bureau and file complaints with any other organization that protects the consumers. We will even call Help Me Howard. I want the world to know that Rooms-To-Go is a fraud, they deceive their customer and take advantage of them by selling them . I feel exploited just like many of Rooms-To-Go customers. I will advise everyone I know not to purchase furniture at Rooms-To-Go.

Sincerely,
Silvia Valladares

  • We had the same exact experience. We purchased a $2400 4 piece set on sale for under $2000. The advertisement, which we still have, states the set is "The Molina Leather Livingroom, 100% Imported Leather." After 3 years, ours started peeling as well. We got the same exact response from Rooms to Go. They said there was nothing they could do because the warranty had expired. I reported it to the Better Business Bureau, and I received the same response. This is obviously false advertising, so I looked on the ConsumerProtection website. Here is what I found: SOUTH CAROLINA: State law forbids false advertising. A law suit may be brought by a consumer, the state attorney general, a solicitor, a county attorney, or city attorney.

    On USLegal.com I found this:
"Under the FTC Act, false advertising includes advertisements that make representations that the advertiser has no reasonable basis to believe, even if the representations turn out to be true. Only the Federal Trade Commission can enforce the FTC Act.

Private parties, such as consumers or competitors, can file a complaint for false advertising under the Lanham Act. To establish a violation under the Lanham Act, consumers and competitors must prove the following: (1) the advertiser made false statements of fact about its product; (2) the false advertisements actually deceived or had the capacity to deceive a substantial segment of the target population; (3) the deception was material; (4) the falsely advertised product was sold in interstate commerce; and (5) the party bringing the lawsuit (plaintiff) was injured as a result of the deception. Injury is construed as a likelihood of injury, rather than actual injury."

I don't intend to accept the warranty line. I intend on getting in touch with the county solicitor as well as the state solicitor. What they are doing is illegal. I won't stand for it.
