Thank goodness my husband and I did not fall for this scam. The presentation was a complete waste of time. When walking down the street in historic Charleston, we were approached by a very aggressive representative near a "tourist information" storefront. We blew him off, but he was very rude. The next day, we decided to reserve spots for an evening ghost tour, so we went into a different "tourist information" storefront and "Nor" (short for Norbert, I think) set us up for the ghost tour. That is when we should have exited the building. However, he began talking about Vacation Station, and my husband thought it would be an easy $100 for us for a short period of time. Nor promised that the presentation was fun and "full of laughs" and would only take 45 minutes. Then if we weren't interested, we would be able to get our $100 along with a four night hotel stay voucher and leave. He said to park at the meters because we would be able to get out right after it was over. WRONG!!!! First of all, the presentation was far from funny. It was extremely tedious and boring. Patrick was the presenter. He was not entertaining and I found the whole thing underhanded. He assured everyone at the beginning of the presentation that it would only be 45 minutes long and then we would be on our way. We were after all on vacation and really did not want to be there couped up in a little room watching a lame slide show. Anyway, the presentation went 25 minutes longer than the scheduled 45 minute time. One couple, (suckers) decided to join, while the rest of us were kept just sitting there, awkwardly making small talk with these ladies who were still trying to convince us that Vacation Station was wonderful. Another 25 minutes later, yes a full 50 minutes after the time we were promised to leave, we finally were able to get out of there. I felt like I had been held hostage. We barely made it to out car before the meter ran out. I deposited the $100 in my checking account, so hopefully that was legit. Haven't tried to use the four night stay yet. The voucher was so full of loopholes and small print, I am not sure we will ever use it. So, if you are thinking about making an easy $100 or whatever they promise you for going, DON'T DO IT!!! Your time is more valuable!! Charleston should run these jokers out of town.
