I lost my job with the United States Post Office in July 2010. I contacted chase bank to make them aware of my loss. I was told that I was eligible for a loan modification due to my job loss. The representative told me to discontinue making payments on my loan and I will recieve a call from my financial counselor and a modification packet within the next week. I never recieved a call or the mod packet as promised. I contacted Chase bank and was informed that I was given false information by the previous rep and my loan was past due and I needed to make two months worth of payments before it went into default status. So I did the only thing I could and sold my vehicle for about $2000 less than book value to make the past due payments. I spoke with a rep the night before I mailed in my payments and informed him I would be mailing $1950 via certified mail. I believed that since I never recieved any further notice from the bank my payments were honored and loan was in good standing. In October I recieved a notice from the bank stating that my loan was accelerating to foreclose. When I called Chase i was told no payments had been recieved for this account and they needed proof of payment to show I had in fact sent payment.I sent them every supporting document such copies from the post office of the cert letter being signed, the money order reciepts, return reciept for merch. and even a letter from the postmaster of the Owasso, Ok post office. Chase refused to credit my account and preceded deem my loan as defaulted. The only relief they offered me was a repayment plan of $1134/mo , after I told them my unemployment was only $1104/mo. and I am a single mother of two children. I sent in for numerous modifications, only to be given the run around because they either said they did not recieve my paperwork or told me I was denied and could not give me an explanation of why. I am now in the middle of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy which began as a 13 when I was forced to pay an attorney to prevent me from being foreclosed on and felt bankruptcy was my only option. I can not find anyone to help clear this whole situation up. I feel as though noone cares to even pay attention to what is going on with Chase bank, and it seems as though all my attorney is out for is more money that I dont have and if I cant pay him more and more then he is no help. Please if there is anything you feel can be done find it in yourself to help me out. I have worked so hard for my home and I am about to lose everything.
