Person from FTC called and said I had won a PCH Sweepstakes. I needed to call PCH and verify claim number then call him back. he said i would need to take this money to Western Union and send it to a courier of shore. I didn't send the correct amount so the man from FTC said to mail more to make the correct amount. I did so, and then through the local police, marshal's office, and my son (policeman) found out that this was a scam. A marshal was supposed to deliver the winning check, but didn't show up. I went to the Western Union office and the clerk helped me get most of my money back. I did find out that the Marshal's are not couriers, and that PCH doesn't pay winners by having them send money to get their winnings. Several red flags that should have caught my eye, but feel very fortunate to gain some of the money back. I should have realized that you don't have to pay for winnings except for taxes, and nobody can pay them for you.
