In March I was matched with a very charming gentleman, or so I believed. He said he was a single father, worked for a US news corporation, was a christian, and was looking for the right woman to build a lasting relationship with...the perfect man! He soon left on a business trip to Nigeria, making sure to tell me that he could only buy a one way ticket as he wasn't sure how long he would be, and that he wa taking his daughter with him. However after a few days he rang to say that the bank had blocked his account and he needed help to get back (ie. for me to send the money to buy a ticket). Alarm bells rang, but after a few days I decided I would help. I knew there was always a risk that it was a scam, but I didn't want to believe that anyone would set out to con me out of money, being in my situation. I am a single mum of two young children, with a very low income. But I could only do what I thought right, and if there was the slightest chance that he was really stuck out there with his five year old daughter then I had to do something to help. I sent a large sum of money, through wire transfer, and expecting to see him the next day, all I got eventually was a text to say that I sent the money too late and there wasn't enough to cover the hotel and flight. This went on for some time, with stories of needing money to cover the hotel bill, pay for escess luggage (the samples he went to find for his work). Needless to say, I have been very stupid to carry on communicating with him, but I still wanted to believe that there might be a good person underneath, and that it could till be an misunderstanding. Then came the claims that his daughter was ill, and he needed to get her back. I did send more money, but of course he is still there, and still asking for more money....I only wish that I had thought to check a website like this first. I don't want this to happen to someone else. I saw the report by SJ from the 18th May 2012, and she describes him perfectly. He said exactly the same things to me, word for word. How many more has he done this to?? Please put a stop to this man wrecking more people's lives.
