On May 18, 2012 we attended a Superior Travel Services(STS)sales presentation. In exchange they gave us $125 for our time.We were told that their travel program was similar to a Sam's Club membership, they buy inventory in bulk and pass the savings on to members.
In the presentation we were shown a board with prices from many timeshare resorts based on a week stay. Prices vary from $199-299.
Airlines- We were shown a graph displaying how the airline like to make a certain average on each seat. For example, if the average was $500, some seat may sell for $650 while others $350. We were assured using their service we would pay the least amount of any customer on the plane.
Hotels-It was explained to us that a night in a hotel, like Holiday Inn, would cost around $40 per night. Also that International Travel Solutions (ITS-Membership Co.)purchases the leftover inventory. They have a large buying power that corporations turn to them when they need rooms, so they would have steeply discounted rates to offer their members.
Cruises-Again explained how they have huge buying power and as a result offer rooms on cruises at huge discounts.Discount greater as you choose better rooms
Reality- STS and parent company ITS are only able to offer a very small discount over what a customer can find themselves.
Airlines-We will always pay the same price that you can find available on the internet yourself at that given moment. There were no discounts on flights as we compared.
Timeshare resorts-The $199-299 that were quoted are only available during something called "express" weeks and are available last minute to 30days out. This was left out of their presentation. When speaking with our sales person we explained repeatedly that we schedule our vacation six months to a year out because of our busy schedules. They told us that these $199-299 prices would apply. The truth was the charge would be a minimum of $399+ depending on resort when we talked to Leonard Figuerosa (Leo).Leo also gave us prices on Cancun resorts for Jan. 2013. His lowest price would save us $270-300 than what we could find on Expedia. He also checked on a hotel room near Indianapolis in Sept. 2012. He could only give a $10 discount on a $160 room. Though their prices offered a 10%, they were not the drastically promised discount STS sold us on. There were no discounts on flights at all. We didn't check into cruises but expect the same results.
ITS customer service is weak. On May 25 we gave Bonnie from STS our Cancun vacation request. Still haven't received any info from her, except she will call. We called May 29 and complained. They had no record of us requesting this vacation. They transferred us to Leo who did email us some prices and did do his job. He explained how ITS works like other discount travel companys like, Expedia, Priceline etc. That they fight for inventory right along side everyone else. They don't buy leftover inventory.
STS only gives a 3 day return policy, but you can't access the service for 7 business days to allow for processing. We were able to get into ITS website without our login being active so we started checking it out. We called ITS as STS suggested to check prices. Our membership still not active ITS called STS to fax over our paper work. Steve Smith call us that day reminding us of the 7 day wait period. Our membership was active that day (May 22 or 23). So we put in a vacation request that day to ITS and waited. Of course now it is passed the 3 day refund period. I think STS holds the paper work passed the return period so we won't find out about their false promises in time to cancel.
We talked to Russell the manager of STS who also talked to us the day we bought. We talked on May 31 and June 1, 2012. We told him what we experienced and did ask for a refund. He is a fast talked so hard to get a word in, but made it clear to us he was going to help. STS completely misrepresents what ITS has to offer by making claims ITS cannot live up to. We are due a full refund for false advertising tactics. The price of the membership was $5,389 + $99 biannual fee. I'll never save enough money to make the membership worth while. And dealing with ITS is a headache. I rather use Expedia. I may never see my money but i want to help other from falling victim.
