Got a call at 10.15am today, got the spiel about a holiday to Florida, cruise with Carnival cruiser lines, cheap car hire, etc etc...the 1st person I spoke to didnt catch his name, the 2nd guy was called Jason knew my details etc and sounded legit. I had experienced a similar situation when I was in Bali but I did not have to give out credit card details so the alarm bells should have rang...Long story short, as my scenario is exactly the same as others in regards to offers etc. silly enough I gave my credit card details to him. I have since rang my credit card provider and had the card cancelled but they had already had two attempts at taking funds...lucky for me not enough credit on my card for them to take it which I already knew they wouldn't get that US$999.00 off of it. BUt I didn't at any stage say I approved of the transaction, or that I wanted the holiday. Soooooo this is a scam of shit proportions and I hope that they don't get too many people sucked into it. I wonder if the Accor/Hilton/Radisson group and Carnival Cruise lines can do anything about this lot and their scam and false advertising. Surely it is in this chains best interest to try and weed these people out as its a negative on thier behalf. My credit card provider is keeping an eye on my account and the fact that I have cancelled my card and if they do access any funds from my card then I have proof and evidence that I have done something about it my end. I am going to call the number but I doubt I will get any legit person or company on the line. A friend advised me that there is a legit promotional campaign over in Florida for this but she was approached about it when she was there, she attended the seminar and she received a great deal and offer for her time. She was not contacted in AUstralia and not via phone.. I am still waiting on the email with all the details I asked for he said would be there in 10 mins time...so I am assuming the attempt to take mony from my credit card and the no email is evidence enough for me that its a big scam and its doing the rounds...how they accessed my info is probably through some other site that I have accessed for accomodation I was looking for in Bali last year. Got to hate on hackers and scammers....
