We have two iPhones with Sprint. I received our 5/14/12 bill and noticed two charges (one on 4/9 and one on 5/9) for $9.99 each.

I called Sprint and they credited the charges. However, what was VERY interesting to me was that they said that this was probably from a text message that I received. I asked if I could go through my "sent texts" to see if I had accepted the service. She said that sometimes just opening a text will either subscribe a customer to a service or start a trial period that, if you don't stop later, will result in charges. I called back and asked another rep and she gave me the same information.

They were able to block my ability to receive "promotional texts" so this shouldn't ever happen to me again; however, that doesn't mean it won't happen to YOU! I highly recommend calling your carrier (especially if you have Sprint since I know this is the case with them) and asking them to block your ability to receive these promotional "junk texts."
