Had a charge I didn't recognize show up on my checking account. So I went to the credit union and got a print out of what it was. It was from "Alliance Network." I called them and got a very polite and helpful gentleman who told me when the charge took place and that it was for "website access." When I told him that I didn't sign up at the date and time he said it happened because I was at work, he told me that they would cancel the charge and refund my money. I was a little suspicious because he couldn't tell me the site I supposedly signed up for. Today, when my refund still hadn't appeared on my account, I started looking online and found from this site that a number of others had been scammed the same way. I had called the number back this morning and got an answering machine. This afternoon I got a "this number is not in service" message.
