On 04/18/10 I purchase several items from home depot including RYOBI trimmer and RYOBI backpack blower RY09600, I spend well over $500 in total I do have all receipts!
Last year we still had lawn care services but this year because of the economy and all and I got retire I decided that I will do my lawn my self. I try to use my blower and after few times of use, motor suddenly was seized! Of course first think I check if I had a bad gas or bad mix with oil and good not believe it that other tools that used the same gas that I mix it very carefully had no problem, but the blower! I took it to a home depot to check. Home depot sends it to they contractors warranty repairs RYOBI products. Of course 10 days later when I call check on status, they told me that blower had a bad gas and it not reparable and out of warranty! L
Now it gets very interesting!!!
I took it home and I took a blower a part, I’m very handy guy, and guess what, motor and “bad gas” had absolutely nothing to do with seizer motor!!! Please aloud me to explain what really happened!
Backpack blower has a fan on the back that mounted and covers inside a plastic case in so-called top volute and bottom volute. The fan was stock inside and damage the covers that was preventing from spinning the fan and motor, (just a poor design and very fragile) of course it was seems like a seize motor. After I remove the cover fan and motor was operating! So, who ever made this diagnostics? was not even open and did not even bother to look for a real problem! Now they tell me that if I put a wrong gas in there it was my foul and it not under a warranty! But this problem happened in a result of bad manufacture and nothing to do with a BAD GAS! They supposedly have warranty for 2-3years!!!
I trying to get in touch with a manufacture and home depot manager and incompetent contractors who “supposedly know” what they doing just trying to brush me off and I got stock with a broken blower!
And now all this stress intentionally causing me emotional and physical distress beyond all measure!
What can I do?
