: I am writing this letter in reference to unethical and possibly unlawful business practices of SUPER GEEKS (PO Box 2884, Burleson, Texas), owned and operated by Ferris Brent, Director., On May 4th Mr. Brent quoted to me on the phone a $50.00 per hour labor fee for repairs to my computer at my home and if there was a virus, a flat fee of $150.00, to remove the virus. I mentioned that I had a laptop where I did not remember the password. He stated that would be no problem, it would only take you a few minutes.passwords where for honest people like a key for a lock. The original scheduled time for repair for Saturday was cancelled, as my son, who also works with computers, worked on them, using spybot scanner, adware scanner, virus scan and registry cleaners. All viruses were detected and removed but he did not have the Windows reboot (software fix bypass) disk, so I scheduled him to come out Sunday.On Sunday, May 6th, he came to the house for the scheduled repair, I was asleep, as I work in Law Enforcement on third shift. I met Mr. Brent briefly and went back to sleep. He was at my home for 45 minutes. When I awoke to get ready for work, my wife told me that he had been there for 45 minutes and had charged us $300.00, of which he left no itemized bill or receipt for payment. First.he did NO virus scans or removal. He complemented my son on his work and he installed no software or hardware. Second, he was on an hourly rate, as quoted, of $50.00 per hour. When you are on an hourly ratethat means you are NOT charging for the jobunless specifically authorized and agreed to. When I called him about the bill, he informed me that rebooting the Windows (a software fix to get past a partition allowing Windows to reboot), which took, 10 minutes, was the same price as removal of a Virus.which can take hours ($150.00). Then he told me you were charging me $100.00 to get past the old password on my laptop (never discussed) and another $50.00 for the hourly rate on top of the rest. Then he also informed me that out of the goodness of his heart he was not charging a $50.00 travel fee. He not only violated our agreement, over-charging me by $250.00 but also took advantage of my wife, who has cancer, while I was unavailable.
