I received a call today around 3pm, first from an automated message system stating that I was "carefully selected" to receive a free cruise if I participated in a political survey. Before I go any further, I found this odd anyway because a friend on my Facebook posted that she had received the same call too, hmmm. I figured that it was a scam, but I gave it a shot. I answered the 3 short questions which took less than a minute. I was then connected to the "Caribbean Cruise Line Company" to speak with a "representative" who would give me further details on how I can claim my free trip. Winning $600 valued trip for free sounded too good to be true, but I continued to listen. The representative continued to tell me details about the price value of the trip, activities on board, free food & drink (which I found difficult to believe) and finished off with saying I won the trip for myself and up to 3 others. I listened to this nonsense for a good 10 minutes, and at the end of her schpeel, she stated that the only "fee" was for the port taxes (equaling out to about $65 per person) and asked what major credit card I'd like to pay with. I asked her, how do I know this is not a scam? She got her "supervisor" on the phone to talk to me (which was a very quick wait for such a large company with a high volume of calls) who ASSURED me this was SAFE and SECURE. I asked if I could take a number down to call back so I can sit down and think about it. The lady told me that due to the minimal amount of "winners", I would not be able to do so. Right....they got me with their words. Stupid me ended up giving them my credit card number. By the end of the conversation I said I did not feel comfortable with this and I knew it was a scam. The "supervisor" became frustrated and annoyed and stated "I've been with this company for 11 years, I wouldn't let a multi-million dollar company go down for $118". They were extremely pushy, rude, and honestly didn't sound like they were giving trustworthy information. Yeah, okay. I told them to take my information off of their database and put me on the DNC list. As soon as I got off the phone, I cancelled my credit card. These people are sleazy, slimy, disgusting, and pushy thieves. DO NOT FALL FOR IT BECAUSE IT IS A SCAM!!!!!
