I answered an ad on Craigslist for an Office Manager/Personal Assistant. The ad appeared on 5/4/12 and I responded the same day. I received a reponse the next day. It appears below:

Hello Jean,

We would like to thank you for sending your resume to Dawson Recruitment & Partners. After reviewing your initial credentials, I think you could possibly be a great fit for our company.

Our Human Resource manager would like to schedule an interview with you before she leaves for vacation early next week. You need to complete the pre-interview screening before we can schedule an interview, which can be found at http://work-for-dawson.info or the career link on our homepage. Your applicant code is 334086.

Please write down your code, as that is the only way you can gain access to your application and employee profile. Once you complete your screening someone from HR will contact you within 72 hours to schedule an interview.

Respectfully
Maureen Witham

This morning (5/6/12) I sat down to respond to their answer. I always research a company before I respond and began with that. I went to their website and discovered that only the homepage had info available (something about international finance and being located in Baliz!). Every other page on their website is "under construction".

From there I did a Google search and the first thing that came up was a complaint on this ScamBook website with exactly the same claims as I had experienced. Thankfully, I did this research before I gave out personal information so there is no issue regarding credit card charges for me.

Unfortunately, people need jobs and some of us are getting desperate. These Scammers know that and can get away with so much because we are in such a difficult place, willing to take some risks to find jobs.

Please everyone, do your research first. These people have to stop profiting from our difficult circumstances that leave us in a place where such potential losses can hurt us far more than the loss of a few dollars should ever hurt a person.
