I read a newspaper piece about these penny auctions online and went to Savebig.com to check one out. In order to visit the site I had to log-on and the sign-up form asked for a credit card number. [Now I know never to give a credit card # just to log-on to a website.] Anyway, as soon as I clicked on enter, my credit card was immediately charged $99. This bought me 160 one-cent bids to use in their so-called 'auction'.

This auction, however, was very different than any I had ever encountered. Instead of just the winner having to pay bid price,
Savebig kept all bids, which cost the bidders anywhere from a few cents to as much as 60 cents per penny bid. They also offered bid packages in the auction, again keeping not only all bids, but charging 'winner' a processing fee. Of course, I had to get onto the website to learn all this.

Stunned by the surprising $99 charge on entering the site, I made my next big mistake. Instead of closing out of the site right away and contacting my VISA card bank about the unauthorized charge, I decided to play their game. I won several auctions and more bid packages, eventually receiving instructions from them on how to be a super winner by using their 'bid assistant'. Problem is that I only received 1 flash drive from my winning bids, and wrote several letters to them asking about the watch and other flash drives I supposedly 'won'...and paid for through charges to my VISA.

I wised up, quit playing the scam, and went to a Complaint Report site especially devoted to Savebig.com. Then my computer went into convulsions and crashed. McAfee removed 29 worms, viruses and trojan horses I'd picked up either from Savebig.com and/or the Complaint Report site. In typing this report my keyboard is acting up and I'm going to have to check to see if I've been infected with the keyboard virus or worm again. I just wished I'd found the Savebigcomplaint site and read the complaints before I ever clicked on the so-called penny auction scam site.
