I tried to use the services of a company on Angie's List, and had a
bad experience even though they were listed as an A company. When
I detailed my complaint, I got an email from the head of the company.
I found out that he had gotten my personal email address directly
from Angie's List, even though the representative said, "I can assure
you that he did not receive that information from us." After he sent me
an email stating that is indeed where he got my personal information,
I copied it in a follow up email to Angie's List as proof. Then, they said
that was not policy, and the agent that was responsible would be addressed.
I pointed out that writing a negative review could put the reviewer in
jeopardy, with possible retribution. Even asking for the time of service
makes it easy for the business to find out who wrote something negative
about them. The last defense and justification that Angie's List sent to me
was that anybody can find out your email, there is no such thing as privacy.
This is nothing more than a scam, taking money for listing companies and even charging more to be higher on the list. It was a wonderful idea, yet this
company is full of holes, and seems to be solely based on selling the idea
that they have accurate lists that will help the customer make informed decisions. This is simply not the case. You might get help, and then again
you might not...this is based solely on making money...for Angie.
