As a Music Publisher we started dealing with Minty Variety stores in October 2011. One of our sales team was contacted by him re ordering music sets from our catalogue. Supposedly based in Cyprus, we insisted on all orders being paid for up front with a credit card. As we did not have this facility in house our Bank agreed to take the credit card payments from the information he supplied. The orders then increased to enable courier payments to Barcelona, Spain, via Western Union, as they did not have credi card facilities either. In January 2012 we received a call from our Bank saying that ther had been fraudulent credit card activity on the account and WE are responsible for the debt!!. To date we are now £ 85,500.00 in debt and as a small SME the 'knock on' effect has been disasterous. After contacting the Police, only to be told as a UK citizen, we have no juristication in Cyprus / Spain there is nothing we can do! Please can someone out there help me????
