Phone number is 800-761-6590. Credit card statement would read "Magazine Service 800-304-8567". Company stated i had either signed up for a 30 month subscription or signed up for that same subscrition through a promotion in May 2011. I had 30 days to cancel the subscription but i learned about this for the first time on August 16th, 2011. I was contacted on August 16th, 2011 & August 18th, 2011 about this. The company said there was no way to cancel this service. I either had to pay $69.90 a month for 30 months or agree to $39.90 a month for 30 months. I requested more information on when and where i signed up for this. They stated i had to sign up for the subscription and they would give me the info about "the mainframe company". I was forced against my will to agree in order to find out this information.

The number they called me from was 402-835-0582.

After making a dispute with American Express i was refunded the full amount of $39.90 on 08/24/11. I was charged on 08/18/11. Both American Express and Western Renewal Serivce stated the magazine account was closed.

Just call your bank and cancel that account. Tell your bank that your card has been compromised by a SCAM! Western renewal service is a scam, verified by Better Business Bureau

They also called me last fall and said something about signing up for their magazines. I told them that I never did, and they said it was hidden in something else I signed up for. They told me my 30 days were up and I never even knew about them. I had to pay for 6 mags at 39.90 a month for 30 months or something, and will receive them for 60 months. I paid several months and then they called me in Oct to have me go ahead and pay the acct off at $1197.00. Well I did. They just called me today and told me that the 1100 dollars I paid for mags was for another company. Now they want me to pay 49.90 a month for 30 months (1500.00) for the same mags ( I think). They kept switching the "sales" persons back and forth and talked in circles and confused the heck out of me. I just found out from BBB that this company is a SCAM!! Crap! I just cancelled the Visa card they have record with my bank. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.

And Again, Call them back ! don't let them rob you!!! It really pays off to know our rights. I don't believe in lying, but you don't have to confirm that the address that they have on file is really your address... If they won't believe that you didn't sign up to anything, and they have your credit card on file somehow (or maybe they are lying), then just dissect their belief by not confirming the info that they have. Have a good day !

I just got a call from Western Renewal Services, and they told me I opened my account since June. They have called me before, but I forgot all about them. The good thing is, the first person I spoke to was new, and she was asking me if I've had problems with my magazines, so I had no hassle explaining that I am not aware of any magazines. She transferred me to her Supervisor who told me that I have a card on file. I asked him for the car numbers and he said he only has the first digit which is a 4. That makes no sense ! Everyone knows that visa starts with 4 and mastercard starts with 5, so that was shady. He couldnt tell me the last 4 of the card, but he did say that I wasn't charged as yet. I continued to make him aware of the fact that I didn't sign up to anything. He said, "maybe a gas card, or a non-smoking something or the other etc..." I told him that being a business owner, I have my source of any discounts and products that I need, so it wouldn't make sense for me to seek specials coupons from anywhere. I GUESS HE HAD NO REBUTTAL AND SAID HE WILL GO AHEAD AND CANCEL. SO YOU CAN GET THEM TO CANCEL IT IF YOU SPEAK TO A HUMANE PERSON. I think they try to make you think you can't get out, because he did mention that it's already past the 30 days to cancel membership. Just call them back and make sure they cancel it. Some companies aren't necessarily fake, but they use dirty tricks to get sales! He left me with the same phone number 888 299 8272.

I can not believe I fell for this!! I didn't pay attention to any of the red flags... the caller ID says Texas... the rep. said he was in Florida... they said they needed my CC number to verify my monthly charge, and I gave it to them! thank God I was quick and had my account number changed right after and nothing was charged to that CC... I could have been scammed for a lot of money after reading all the reports here! this makes me crazy mad!!

I got the same thing. I didn't have to give them my credit card number. They already had it. They must have gotten it somehow online, but they claimed I had to have given to them over the phone. Now I'm forced to pay $50 per month for 30 months. Any ideas out there?
