American Sweepstakes is a promotional marketing company specializing in the administration and management of sweepstakes, contests and game promotions. We do not run any sweepstakes for our own company. We only service other companies, brands, organizations and their agencies. We have been developing and implementing promotional marketing programs for over 30 years for both large and small companies. In most cases if you have been contacted and told you won a large cash prize, we did not CONTACT YOU. It is a scam company that uses other company’s names such as ours. We get over a 1000 calls and email’s a year from people who think they have been contacted by us If you send them a check it will clear before you find out that the check they may have sent you is bogus. It’s a FRAUD, DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY. File a complaint with the FTC online at or by calling us at 877-FTC-HELP (877-382-4357). It’s a FRAUD, DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY. To be declared a winner of a prize of $600 or more you must first sign an affidavit of eligibility, liability, & publicity, then produce identification and your Social Security #. Contact YOUR LOCAL POLICE if you have sent money. Sweepstakes Scams Require You Pay to Receive the Prize Legitimate sweepstakes will never ask you to pay fees to participate or to receive a prize. You should never have to pay handling charges, service fees, or any other kind of charges up front to receive a win - those are sure signs of sweepstakes scams. Sweepstakes taxes are paid directly to the IRS along with your regular tax return, except for rare exceptions such as paying for port fees or hotel taxes. For more information, read the article Criminals love to use services like Western Union to receive illicit funds, because it is nearly impossible to trace who received the money. Western Union transfers are handled like cash, and it is nearly impossible to get back any money that you send to con artists in this way. In the few cases where you have to pay money to a sponsor, you would not be required to use a wire service.
