  • I had the exact same problem with a fraud site ...but I haven't got to the part where PayPal doesn’t refund the money or help on the refund.
But I agree with you. I don’t understand why PayPal accepts these transaction and with this is making the buyer suffer when they could easily put a stop to it. How can a reliable site as PayPal associate with fraudulent sites

  • Notify PayPal at http:www.paypal.com You will NOT need to sign up.
Email them and CALL them. Tell them to BAN your name and flag it as possible attempt at ID theft. They will investigate. Also notify your BANK and tell them that they are NOT to accept ANY charges from PayPal or without your authorization. This is the only way to protect yourself.
Otherwise you could be in for a real headache.
If this person is creating an unauthorized account in your name; they can go to JAIL. This is fraud and ID theft. If you need to contact they FBI as a last resort. Give her a chance to "correct her actions" before sicking the law on her. Do not contact her at all. Let the authorities take care of it. PayPal is a VERY good and Reliable Payment processor. If she is creating an account, she may have your credit card or bank information as well. If not, she is just harassing you. If that is the case, let the law take care of her.

  • Thank you for reporting this. I got a weird feeling when I got those e-mails asking for a Paypal account. I have been doing some research, saw your post and some others like this: http://echeng.com/journal/2009/08/19/paypal-is-the-vehicle-for-scams-on-craigslist/

    Youtube has some too: http://youtu.be/lr_7--e5A1g

In my experience and what I have read it is too good to be true when someone is not asking to reduce the price and they are in a hurry to get your item. Thanks again for your post and saving me from a possible scam.

  • You have to sign into a Paypal account to accept the funds. If you haven't received the money, you can contact your friend and have them retrieve their money that hasn't been picked up by you. They might be able to send it to you using the Amazon.com payments system, but you would need an Amazon account as well.

And if you did sign into Paypal and accept the funds, it takes a couple days before they show up in your checking account.

  • We have to put a stop to this. We better get a class action against paypal ans ebay, they are acting as a fraud front, and may be actually be owned by a terrorist group. They are screwing many many customers and should be closed down and forced to return all the funds they stole if you add up all the money on these complaints here which I have not yet, you will find a very lucritive fraud house, and then after they start getting law suits they will probebly claim bankrupsy and screw us all.
