  • I think I actually might have figured out what this company is doing. I am signed up for Doubleday Book club - no where does the BMC show up on my account. But I was looking at everything and it shows that I supposedly didn't decline the featured selection on 10/20. I keep all of the emails for the featured selection and the emails I receive when I decline them. I have no emails for this particular featured selection and therefore did not have the opportunity to decline it. They have sent these books to me and charged my card that is on file with them.
I am going to send the books back when they arrive and see if I can get them to credit me back. If not I will be taking some sort of action against them. Maybe even come back here and make another complaint against them.
Others might want to see if this is the same thing that happened to them.

  • It seems the scams are on the rise at my website. They are real convincing to join. Most express how bad the world and job force is treating you. I agree some of us don't get paid enough but to send money to scammers, who aren't any better, and claim you can have more money, only to give them money and then they disappear is ludicrous. Why is the government doing more to prevent this? I have lost several hundred dollars already. I have no confidence in the internet at this time. Even the so called Big Corp. have gone mad. Book Clubs, magazine orders, ect. Stop them in their tracks!! Thanks,
    anonymous.

  • I had the same thing happen to me. Their phone number is listed on your
bank account where they post the charges. You can call them. They tell you the shipping is free and then you find out you have to sign up and join free shipping.com and pay them in order to get a 15.00 rebate to cover the shipping charges for the doubleday book club. I found the number on my bank account and called. Told them it was false advertising and demanded they cancel the account and put the money back into my account or I would contact the attorney general and report them. They did and then I called free shipping.com and cancelled them also. I hope this helps.

  • Like many others, my girlfriend is caught up in this scam. Doubleday continues to send books that she hasn't ordered and continues to deduct money from her card. The main issue is there is no way to contact customer service directly to cancel a membership. They provide no contact number nor do they have a website to access for this type of issue. Is there anyone who had this problem and found a solution short of cancelling the credit card?

  • I finially got in contact with DoubleDay and they claimed in 15 different emails, (all replies to seperate emails I write them) with the identical cut and paste response that they have no record of taking any of my money and maybe I was confused. So... I threatened legal action and voila! The very next day all the money was released back into my account. Odd isnt it?
