- I took it to my bank as they said the wanted a copy of it and instead they handed me the COPY and I asked why they kept the original and they said because it was fraud and that along with informing their other branches they would turn it over to the FBI and that I couldn't have it back. You might check with your bank and also bring in the note that came with it and the envelope. Whatever you do don't deposit it without telling your bank where it came from. The bank manager told me they could have cleaned out my account. Not sure how but you could see if your back will tell you. Glad you had the ability to look this site up. Good luck.

- I got the same thing today. The bank is real and I'll call them on Monday. Yes, the envelope is cheap looking

- I am new to this site and have no idea as to how it works. The check I received was for $997.67 also with a promise letter to bring the remaining of the $9,700 to our home in two days. We were to deposit our check and call them back. The letter also said they had a "zero tolerance for fraud"

This is a complete SCAM!!!! Don't do anything I am trying to find out how to report these people. I think this Hanover Inc just came out as I got my letter yesterday. I knew it was too good to be true. Look at the lable on the envelope. They printed 1,000's of them hoping to sucker some person in. They need to be thrown in Jail. Still working on the best way to report it. I am really angry that someone might get their accounts cleaned out.
